2025 Rules & Bylaws

 

Active Membership

• Have a current NBHA Membership card, can be purchased at NBHA.com

• Run at 3 Sanctioned race or at the July 5th District hosted race

• Have sponsor money totaling a minimum amount of $100 per member OR $150 for a family, family is immediate family only, this can be paid personally or by businesses. This must be turned in by April 1, 2025. If sponsor money is not turned in by April 1 you can turn in sponsor money no later than the July 5th race with an additional late fee of $50 added to the original sponsor fee. 

 

Sanctioned Races 

• Enter and run in the producer’s race.

• Follow producers’ rules.

• Bring ALL NBHA matters to Tory Land, District Director, NOT the producer. 

• Director will be at shows and will have forms for members to fill out.

  • If the director is not able to make it for any reason it will be posted on the Facebook page, rules on fees will still apply.

• NBHA membership card needs to be purchased before the run

  • If there are difficulties, that the director is aware of, at the race and the NBHA office needs to be notified the racer will have until the end of the next proceeding workday to get in touch with the NBHA office to get that worked out to receive points for that race.

• Pay the $10 NBHA fee to Tory Land, District Director, prior to running, if you wait until after you run to get your fee paid there will be a $10 late fee.

  • $10 for the first horse and first category. $5 per horse or category after the first one.

    • Example 1: 1 rider in the Open - $10

    • Example 2: 1 rider in Open ($10) and Teen ($5) 1 horse - $15

    • Example 3: 1 rider in Open ($10) and 3 horses ($10+$5+$5) - $20

    • Example 4 1 Rider in Open ($10) and Senior ($5) 2 horses ($10+$5+$5+$5) - $25

 

Points 

• You can find all point information in the NBHA official rulebook on NBHA.com

• Points will be awarded to NBHA members ONLY that pay their NBHA fee to the director.

• Points will be shown publicly on the website and Facebook page.

• Points will be posted no later than the Tuesday after each race.

• Points will not go OFFICIAL until the Friday following each race.

• Late Fees to get points will be accepted until the Tuesday that follows the conclusion of the race. $10 per horse extra for late fees.  

• Points are given out in a 5D with ½ second split format

• Points are given to the top 5 in each D in a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

• Ties you add the two point positions and divide between the positions. 

  • Example: Tie between 2nd and 3rd (4+3=7) (7/2=3.5)

 

District Finals Year End

• Location: Pasadena Convention Center

• Tractor: Larry Davies

• $1500 Minimum added to the Open 

• $250 Minimum added to the Youth

• Open to anyone 

  • Awards to 1st in Open and Youth

• NBHA active members ONLY Awards

  • Awards given to 1-3 amongst NBHA members in Open

  • Saddles awarded to Open 5D winners

  • Awards given to 1st amongst NBHA members in Senior, Teen, and Youth 

 

 

Year End

• Awards given to NBHA active members ONLY

• Qualifications are given to members who may not be active.

  • Example: Paid fees to run at race, earned points, and finished top 10 in the division,  but did not pay sponsorship.

• Given at the conclusion of the District Finals

• Awards given to these categories

  • Open

  • Senior

  • Teen

  • Youth

  • Novice (Look for rules on this)

  • And some extras that will be a surprise come awards.

• Awards will be given 1-4th place in categories and divisions

  • This is subject to change depending on the number of members that participated in said category(ies).

Fees

• $10 point fee at EVERY sanctioned NBHA race

  • $5 for every category and/or horse after the initial

  • If paid after the race a late fee of $10 will apply. You have until the proceeding Tuesday to pay fees.

• Minimum $100 Sponsor for individual member, or $150 Sponsor for family

  • Turned in by April 1, 2025

  • Will be accepted up until July 5, 2025 race with and additional $50 late fee.

 

Novice

• This will only be at the District Director hosted Races July 5 & District Finals

• Any age can enter

• If you are not running a competitive time in the Open 5D, Senior 3D, or the Youth 3D you can enter the novice.

• If your time in the novice will get money in the Open, you will be required to pay the difference of the Novice Entry and the Open Entry and will receive the Open Payout

  • This is to help the true beginners or even beginning horses.

  • The difference will be subtracted from the Open Payout

  • Failure to cooperate with this system will result in no payout and not being allowed to enter the novice class.

• This is NOT an NBHA category so will not count towards World Points

• Payout and points will also be a 3D

  • If 10 entries or less payout will be a straight pay

Ties

• Year-end awards

  • 1st tie breaker race count from district races.

  • 2nd tie breaker fastest time at District Finals

  • 3rd tie breaker coin flip

• District Finals Awards

  • Riders can choose between a run off or flip of a coin
